The Post Diploma in Health and Social Care Management (HSCM) is aimed at decision makers in the public, private and non-profit sectors. The program provides relevant management training and a well-respected Post Diploma to those seeking more senior posts in primary and secondary health care.

The program combines the study of health services management and general management. It also allows health professionals to obtain the necessary skills to manage health care services in rapidly changing and increasingly business-like environments.

Admission Requirements

As a prerequisite, students must have, as a minimum, one of the following:
     A first degree in health related subjects, or
     Recognized Advanced Diploma with three years relevant work experience,

English requirement

English language test results (IELTS overall band score of 6.5 or TOEFL score of 550 or Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC) score of 605 – 780). Except those who have been previously taught via the medium of English or where students are from an English speaking country.


Program Duration 1350 hours; 18 months


Learning Objectives/Outcomes

The program will equip students with the knowledge and skills required to operate at senior levels in today’s health and social care services. A flexible, student-centered approach to teaching and learning will facilitate the development of analytical and critical thinking and the ability to lead and manage change.

Emphasis is also placed on the interrelationship of health services management problems and tasks within the UK Health industry. The main philosophy of the program is that health services management can be taught as a unified body of knowledge, applicable to any health service organization.

Students enrolling on this program will study industry relevant topics to include health care infrastructure, hospital operation, finance, and health care management. This program is also opened to both experienced and newly registered health care practitioners.

Student Progress/ Assessment Methods

The assessment process for this program will take place in twofold at 50 % for class-based learning and 50% for work placement portfolio per course.

The assessment method of class-based learning comprises of three course works (Assignment) weighted at 20% each and a close book examination at 40% for each course. Candidates will have to complete five (5) activities sheet (weighted at 10% for each sheet) for each course.

A minimum of 50% is required in each assessment to pass the overall subject.

Attendance Expectations

90% attendance will be required (1350 hours, 5 days of the week, 18 months.
